Veterinarians, veterinary technicians, wildlife rehabilitators, animal shelter and rescue workers, vetmed students, and other animal care professionals often suffer from high rates of compassion fatigue, burnout, vicarious trauma, poor work/life balance, depression, and even suicidal thoughts.  You work long hours, doing physical and emotionally draining tasks, often with insufficient staffing, pay, and resources. On top of that, you also see unimaginable cruelty and irresponsibility that can make you lose faith in humanity and question if what you’re doing makes a difference.

As a fur-mama and animal lover, I have the deepest appreciation for those who spend grueling hours helping animals and can only imagine how taxing, high-stress, and heartbreaking it can be at times as a career. Through counseling I can help you process through your experiences, learn coping and self-care skills, improve the transition between work and home, find balance and connectedness in your life, and enjoy your life and your career again!

I know scheduling around work can be hectic, so I offer some evening, weekend, and online scheduling options as availability allows. I accept self-pay and am in-network with most BCBS & Cigna plans. If you have an insurance I am out of network with a superbill can be provided to have insurance reimburse you.

You can choose the setting and type of therapy that works best for you:

  • Online Sessions – Convenient, HIPAA-compliant platform
  • Individual Office sessions – Mooresville and Winston-Salem locations
  • Phone Sessions –Most insurances will not pay for phone sessions, but these can be paid for out of pocket if needed for convenience and scheduling
  • Individual Equine-Assisted sessions – All ground work, so there is no riding and no horse experience needed. Equine-assisted sessions are only offered in Mooresville, which is about an hour from Winston-Salem and Charlotte, and well worth the commute.
  • Team Building Equine-Assisted sessions -All ground work, no riding. Bring the whole office out to work through burn out, traumatic events, or build teamwork and communication!
